La Luz es Fuerte

Historic & Contemporary Photography from Chiapas, Mexico

Biligual printed materials and signage in English and Spanish to promote two photo exhibitions showcasing the work of women photographers in Chiapas, Mexico: La Luz es Fuerte (Like the Women of Chiapas) and Indómito, in partnership with the Consulate General of México in New York, The Mexican Cultural Institute, and The Lower Eastside Girls Club.

La Luz es Fuerte featured the historic work of Gertrude Duby Blom and Marcey Jacobson alongside the contemporary work of Maruch Santíz Gomez, Margarita Martínez Pérez, Lou Dembrow, and their youth photography students. 

Indómito featured contemporary Mexican photography from 16 photographers of the Gimnasio del Arte (San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, MX) curated by Luis Aguilar at the Mexican Cultural Institute’s Octavio Paz Gallery at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York.
